How do I connect my Google Calendar to PlanJour?
By PlanJour team, Sparklithic Ltd · Published · Updated
Bring the calendar that already governs your working day into PlanJour, so you are planning against your real week rather than half of it.
A planner that does not hold your real commitments becomes a second system, and second systems lose. If your working life lives in Google, PlanJour needs to see it.
Connecting
Go to your calendar settings and choose to add a connection. You will be asked to sign in to Google and approve access. You are authenticating as yourself — the connection belongs to your account alone, and nobody else's PlanJour sees your events.
What comes across
Your Google events appear in PlanJour alongside the ones you create here, so a week looks like a week rather than the half of it you keep in one place.
What does not, yet
This reads in one direction. Events you create in PlanJour do not currently travel back to Google. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it when a colleague cannot see something.
Two-way sync is on the roadmap. It is a genuinely large piece of work — conflict handling, deletion semantics, tokens — and doing it badly would be worse than not doing it.
If the Google option is not there
The connector has to be enabled for the app before it can appear. If you cannot see it, it is not set up on your account yet rather than broken.
iCal feeds still work
Any calendar that publishes an iCal URL — including Apple and Outlook — can be added the same way.
