PlanJour now works without a signal
Open your calendar and journal on a plane, on the Underground, or anywhere the signal drops. Your last saved data is still there.
Until now, losing your connection meant losing the app. It would open to a blank screen, which is a poor way for a calendar to behave on a train.
It opens offline. PlanJour now keeps a copy of itself on your device, so it starts up and works whether or not you have a signal. Deep links work too: going straight to your journal offline lands on your journal, not an error.
Your recent data comes with it. Your events and journal entries are kept locally, so you can read back what you planned and what you wrote while you are offline.
You will know when it is happening. A small strip appears at the top telling you that you are offline and looking at your last saved data, so you are never left guessing whether what you see is current.
Signing out clears it. Because that local copy includes your journal, signing out erases it from the device. Your diary should not outlive your session on a shared computer.
One honest limitation: this release is read-only offline. You can open and read everything, but changes still need a connection to save. Offline editing is a bigger piece of work and we would rather ship the reliable half now than a half that quietly loses your writing.
