Connect your Google Calendar
Bring the calendar that already governs your working day into PlanJour, so you are not planning against a half-empty week.
From the team: Shipped September, reading in. Writing back to Google is a separate piece of work and is on the roadmap above.
A guided first week
Hand a new person the whole app at once and most of them are gone by day three. Introduce it one small thing at a time.
From the team: Shipped August. One action a day to start, with the heavier surfaces held back until the basic loop has been round twice.
Habit tracking that does not punish a missed day
Replace the consecutive-day streak, which resets to zero and is the best-documented cause of people abandoning habit tracking.
From the team: Shipped August. Momentum decays over 28 days instead of resetting, and never shows a zero.
A daily writing prompt
The blank page is the most common reason people stop journalling. Ask something specific instead.
From the team: Shipped August. A prompt each day, tied to your page template, with seasonal ones through the year.
A warning when the day is over-committed
People routinely schedule more than a day can physically hold, and the planning fallacy means they do not learn from it on their own.
From the team: Shipped August. The day view shows scheduled hours against the hours you actually have, and says so plainly when it does not fit.
Your Year in Review
Assemble a year-end review from what you actually recorded, rather than handing you a blank template and asking you to remember.
From the team: Shipped September. Built from your own events, entries, moods, habits and check-ins, and it reads from confirmed events.
Confirm whether an event actually happened
Make the year you look at the real one rather than the intended one, by asking whether each past event took place.
From the team: Shipped August. One tap on a past event - yes, no or moved - and only confirmed events count toward your figures.
Two-way sync with Google Calendar
PlanJour can read a Google Calendar today, but events created in PlanJour do not travel back. Until they do, anyone whose working life lives in Google has to keep two calendars, and the second one always loses.
From the team: Honest about the size of this: OAuth, conflict handling, deletion semantics and a permanent support burden. Table stakes rather than a differentiator, but its absence quietly rules PlanJour out for a lot of people.
Print your week on paper
A properly typeset weekly or monthly page, designed to be printed and written on by hand. The research on handwriting is real, and the pull back to paper is not something a screen wins by arguing with.
From the team: The PDF machinery already exists for itinerary export, so this is mostly typesetting.
A year ago today
Nothing in PlanJour ever comes back to you unprompted. Every route into your own past needs you to already want to go there. A quiet 'a year ago today' on the Today page, drawn from lines you chose to press, would make years of entries feel worth having kept.
From the team: Sourced from pressed lines first, so it cannot resurface a hard day uninvited. With an off switch.
See a journal photo full size, and print a month
At the moment a photo added to a journal entry is shown as a small square crop, and there is no way to open it. That means part of every picture that is not square is simply not viewable anywhere in the app. Tapping a photo should open it full frame, uncropped, with a way to move between the day's photos, download the original and print.
From the team: Being built now. The album is the natural home for printing a month.
Share one category, not your whole calendar
Sharing today is all-or-nothing and view-only, which shows a partner the load without letting them take any of it. Sharing a single category, with an owner on each item, would make the invisible work of running a household both visible and divisible.
From the team: Strong problem and good evidence behind it, but it is a privacy-sensitive rewrite of the sharing model. Waiting until real households are asking.
Pause a subscription instead of cancelling it
The objection to a subscription is rarely the price of one app, it is the eleventh recurring charge. Being able to pause for a month or three, keeping your data, is the thing most people say would make them willing to start at all.
Voice capture for quick add
For anyone who thinks faster than they type - and particularly for people with ADHD - an idea that cannot be captured in a few seconds is gone. Speaking an event into the existing natural-language parser would close that gap.
From the team: The parser already exists and already understands plain English, so this is mostly plumbing the browser speech API into it.
Shared calendars for couples & families
See a partner's or family member's calendar alongside your own, useful for coordinating school runs, date nights, or just knowing when someone's free. You'd each keep your own journal private; only the calendar would be shared.
From the team: Shipped: whole-calendar view-only sharing is live from your Account page.
Dark mode
An evening-friendly dark theme for the calendar and journal, for anyone who prefers it or is planning late at night.
From the team: Shipped: toggle it from the profile menu (Dark mode switch). Defaults to your OS setting until you flip it, then remembers your choice. Covers the calendar, journal, life progress, achievements and account pages; the public marketing/legal pages and admin panel stay light-only for now.
Home screen widgets
A small widget for your phone's home screen showing today's agenda at a glance, or your current wins/journaling streak — no need to open the app just to check what's next.
From the team: Shipped as close as a web app can get: a real native home-screen widget needs iOS/Android platform code we don't have access to. Instead, /today is a tiny, fast "glance" page (today's agenda + habit streaks, tap to tick) built for Add to Home Screen, so it opens straight to today instead of the full app.
Weekly recap email
A short Sunday email summarising the week just gone: wins logged, categories you spent the most time in, and a nudge if your monthly Life Progress Check is due.
From the team: Built: sendWeeklyRecap backend function summarises wins logged, top category by time, and a Life Progress nudge, and sends via the same Resend/custom-domain sender as reminders. Skips anyone with nothing to report. Still needs its actual Sunday-morning schedule wired up in the Base44 dashboard (same place sendEventReminders' schedule lives) since that's a dashboard setting, not something set from code.
More journal covers, patterns & stickers
The current cover options are lovely but limited. More colours, patterns, foil accents and event stickers to make your journal feel even more yours.
From the team: Shipped a new "Playful" pattern pack: confetti, hearts, smileys, rainbows and balloons, drawn in real bright colour rather than the tone-on-tone style of the other packs, for anyone who wants their cover to feel more fun. Confetti is free, the rest are Plus, same split as the other packs. Didn't touch cover colours or event stickers in this round.
Habit tracking (originally requested as streaks)
Track a specific habit (like a gym visit or a daily walk) as a running streak, not just a monthly trophy count — with a visible "current streak" number, similar to how Wins already work.
From the team: Shipped, then deliberately changed. We built streaks, then found the evidence that a counter resetting to zero after one missed day is the most reliable way to make somebody quit. It is now a momentum figure that decays instead of resetting, and never shows a zero. See 'Habit tracking that does not punish a missed day'.
